Good point. It shouldn't be a federal affair. Another topic that should be left to the states.

The question has two problems as I see.

1 Most Republicans actually support some limits on Abortion, and a large percentage support a basic ban on Abortions. The Republican party platform calls for a Constitutional Amendment banning all Abortions.

2 How do we define Government Money. If a person pays for their health care, but it is subsidized by the feds, and it covers abortion does that count. Since a new health care plan will involve the Feds at all levels of the Medical Industry, it would be almost impossible for a woman to get an abortion without some money coming from the feds, at least in an indirect way. This would amount to an defacto ban on all abortions.

I think all Americans should look at their feelings about issues like Abortion when they decide if the new Health Care plan is good for America!

hmmmmm.....Good question this is a very deep question in fact. But recently i have switched from being a republican to being in the independent party, for personal resons. But when i look back i see that i was a very strong republican, i was taught this way and grown up to believe this. My papa was a pastor and my grandma a crazy bible thumper, and they always told me abortions were wicked, and God would punish those who commit such crimes. But recently in a class disscusion and i listened to others view points and have realized that, who are we as people to tell a women that she can/cant have a baby. Its utterly and unfamously unethincal. I believe that let the woman do what she wants, she will be judged on judgement day....as for the paying goes....lets face it its stupid, why should we pay the gov't in the first place? According to the economy they have no clue how to handle money properly much less know how to distribute it.

Democrats don't compromise much, they tend to just cry until they get their way.

The women who need abortions the most are the women who cannot afford the procedure, period. They need help. You don't like helping people?

Its funny to me that any one would say that dems cry there way into what they want because isn't that how bush got in in the first place.
