Can somebody rate this poem please? 1-10?

i made this poem at 2:30-3am.

while i was trying to get to sleep, i thought, "i miss the rain." then all these words fired through my head and this poem came out.

Oh tears of heaven,

Where hast thou gone?

From summer skies come,

but winter skies non.

My soft white maiden,

Chione my love,

thine father's best wishes,

be not enough.

Blooming overhead,

my fair grey sorrow,

let loose thine burden,

if only tomorrow.

So cry, cry, cry.

Please cry once more.

Cry for the flowers

upon my floor.

Cry for the vale, the mountains, and then,

cry for me, at night, in bed.

i forgot what its called when you analize poems, i was gunna explain what all this mean, but i think that takes the fun out of it or something. i also think its not too hard to figure out what it means. oh, and i tried using old english but i dont know too much of it. should i just use regular english?

Update:

Chione is the snow nymph from greek mythology. Her father is Boreous of the North wind. So his wishes IS...ARE? the wind that blows during the cold seasons.

Update 2:

Chione is the snow nymph from greek mythology. Her father is Boreous of the North wind. So his wishes IS...ARE? the wind that blows during the cold seasons.

It's called a critique (analysis of a poem in english).

It's a good poem indeed. I'm not a literary expert myself, but to answer your follow-up query about the term used to "analyze poems"... I think you mean "critique"?

As with some others, I give this a high rating, too. I'm more accustomed to sonnets that follow a set iambic pentameter and rhyme scheme. But as far as keeping to a theme.. it's very deep and well versed.

And congrats to you for jotting this all out before you lost it to sleep. They always say that thoughts/ideas are channeled best during the moments before sleep. Must be a meditative factor...

Nice work! I usually don't like much of the poetry on here, but I was impressed with this. Such a soft voice all the way through and so comfortable to read out loud.

This is good.....you used some deep words there....who's Chione?

    9/10

  • i love the old english, i love when people use those kinds of words...sometimes you just gotta use it in a poem for it to get the tone across to your audience! i do it sometimes too haha but yes, i agree about the analyzing thing of poetry, it breaks down the poems authenticity & shreds it up. but i must say, i love your poem, it impressed me. i love the "my fair grey sorrow, let loose thine burden, if only tomorrow" its such a pure, genuine & original poem bravo i'm giving you a bunch of stars!

Source(s): oh & i rate this a 10 because i like it so much lol

7 The part "a million pieces to the ground i saw the theft in your eyes taking what you wanted but then he took the next step and agreed with you soon he kissed u and he saw " Is kind of confusing, and also I fill its kinda harsh, If you use symbols and metaphors it will be less harsh

it's good but it would be more interesting if more modern words were used. besides that, i think it's great! 8/10
