QUESTION ABOUT MY GPS?

Can your GPS be effected by cloud cover? I'm at home now on a very cloudy day, but my GPS thinks I'm at a location about 15 miles away.

Update:

Thank you, all! I've learned a lot. Unfortunately, I can give points to only one person, so I made my choice. If I could have given points to all of you, I would have. :-)

there are at least 12 satellites up in space

it requires 3 satellites to give a pinpoint location

if one satellite is obstructed, you will get an inaccurate reading.

you can wait for a better reading, turn off unit then turn back on, or find your location.

Yes GPS can be affected by cloud cover as it gets its position from satellites. Sometimes turning it off then back on can help.
