Yes, if you don't have a text messaging package the cost to send and receive a message is $0.20. In other words, you are billed for every message you send and every message you receive at the rate of $0.20 per message. It doesn't matter if you are texting your next door neighbor, someone on the same plan as you or someone across the country, it is still $0.20 per message unless you have a text messaging plan on your account. You may want to have the account holder call AT&T to add a text messaging package.

The available text messaging packages are:

    200 messages for $5.00

    1500 messages for $15.00

Unlimited messages for 1 line $20.00

Unlimited messages for up to 5 lines $30.00
