Why do the Shark's fans still "boo" Cambell?

Do they not understand how free agency works? Perhaps because they do not reside in a real hockey town(if ya can't host an outside game like the winter classic, yer just a wanna be hockey town in my book)

Update:

A full house of fools is still less than a half attendance arena of a REAL hockey town fans!

    Cause they have no class

  • A real hockey town stays a real hockey town through good times and bad and doesn't flock back en masse once things get better.

As to San Jose...Doug Wilson gave up quite a bit to get Campbell at the trade deadline, thinking he was the missing piece of the puzzle (to what...presumably, another second round ouster I guess). Campbell went UFA and took what he viewed as the deal he wanted. It's how unrestricted free agency works. Presumably, Campbell found a situation he liked in Chicago and took the deal. That's his right as an Unrestricted Free Agent.

So you've got a lot of hurt feelings, I suppose. This, however, is part of spinning the wheel at the trade deadline- sometimes it works out, other times, you come up trumps.

If they want him that bad, then they can take him and his contract off of the Blackhawks hands.

The guy only spent 20 games with the Sharks, he owes much more loyalty to Sabers fans than Sharks fans to be quite honest. I don't get why fans complain about players, that their teams only got for a Stanley cup push, leaving. If anything, then they should be mad at their own teams management if they gave up too much or it did not work out.

--And this real fan / fake fan crap got to stop. NHL Hockey needs fans period, I don't care if half the fans at the United Center or watching TV don't know who Steve Smith is or why "DINO SUCKS" is a great memory. NHL Hockey is in an economy that is in an economic recession/depression (Wait until the next wave of mortgauge foreclosures hit) and does not draw a lot of people in most of its markets. We need fans period.

Simple. Their team got worse becuase he left (Even though they won more can you imaging how good they would've been with Campbell joining Boyle next year?)

Right or not they have the right to boo

Also why are they fools/ What about the Pens they sell out but half the fans are bandwagoner. Are they not a real hockey market

If you can't host an outdoor game then your a wannabe hockey town? LOL, that's the dumbest thing I've ever heard.

And who cares if they boo him... They payed money to go and watch a game, so they can do whatever they want. Is it classless? Possibly, but that's besides the point. I'm pretty sure Campbell can handle a few boo's.

Players get booed all the time, that's hockey. Watch a Canadiens game. Those fans boo during the American anthem. Best fans in the NHL my ***.

    TO TRI

Hey Dumbass, nobody gives a F*"&% about your amateur opinions on hockey, your Rangers can kiss my Canadian ***.

You also dont know s*&% about Olympic hockey...It doesnt matter if its fair or not to play on an olympic sized or NHL sized ice surface. Any team that has a chance to win a medal have rosters that are loaded with NHL talent. So go screw yourself As&%$#@....Id love to pull your jersey over your head and break your face

    have a good one DOUCHBAG

BTW: The Sharks couldnt get anyone to trade for Cambell after a sub-par season and the ridiculous salary he was making. You should just close that mouth of yours before more stupidity comes out of it.

I like how this has become a discussion about SJ not knowing how FA works.......meanwhile MANY hockey hotbeds do the same thing!???!!!

    Briere gets booed in Montreal

    Nylander in Edmonton

    etc etc etc..............

I agree with the person above.....fans are fans...."real fans" or "fake fans"? Please. I know lots of Leaf/Habs fans that do not know what the hell they are talking about and know some non traditional market fans who do know what they are talking about........sure, on a whole, Montreal fans are going to be WAY more knowledgable than your AVERAGE Thrashers or Sharks fan but so what.......add to that the fact that IMO......by booing Campbell, while I would not do it DOES INDICATE THEY KNOW WHAT IS GOING ON! They felt snubbed, hence they boo him. Good for them for knowing who he even frickin' is. Christ. Rant over.

We boo him because the Sharks gave up so much for him ,and then he leaves SJ for money. How the hell is SJ a non hockey town just cause it doesn't snow that much here? They sell out every night, And they are a winning team. Hmm, a team that has sellouts every night is such a wanna be hockey town, yeah, thats right.

They are yelling "Sooooooooooooooooooooup"..as in Campbells Soup.

    Get it?

Why did Pens fans boo Jagr everytime he came back to town?Don't they know how free agency works?

  • 1 decade ago

They don't exactly boo him for leaving. They boo him because they traded away prospects and players, and they got **** in return. He was a terrible player for them after they traded for him, then he just goes and takes the big deal with a good team in their conference. It was kind of a dirty move and I can understand it since Campbell sucked for the Sharks.

Many of their fans simply don't understand free agency = they boo'd Belfour for years after he left because he didn't feel they had a good team. (To be honest the Sharks in the mid-90s would barely have been a playoff team even WITH a goalie of his calibre.)
