WHAT MIGHT THE "earthly things" & the "heavenly things" be in view of promises made by God & Christ....?

.....((John 3:12)

“ 12 If I have told YOU earthly things and yet YOU do not believe, how will YOU believe if I tell YOU heavenly things?”

Update:

The context in the Bible about Nicodemus not knowing & believing the earthly & heavenly hopes for mankind as stated:

-Jesus taught carefully his earthly promises such as in the Lord's prayer---'thy kingdom come thy will be done on earth as it is in heaven....."Matthew 6:9

Elaborating on paradise on earth as in:

(Revelation 21:3-4)

“. . .: “Look! The tent of God is with mankind, and he will reside with them, and they will be his peoples. And God himself will be with them. 4 And he will wipe out every tear from their eyes, and death will be no more, neither will mourning nor outcry nor pain be anymore. The former things have passed away.””

HEAVENLY THINGS:

(Luke 12:32)

“32 “Have no fear, little flock, because YOUR Father has approved of giving YOU the kingdom.”

(Revelation 5:10)

“10 and you made them to be a kingdom and priests to our God, and they are to rule as kings over the earth.””

Read it in context. In the case of John 3:12.. Jesus is talking about being born again from above. It is contained in John 3:1- 21.

  • if i remember correctly then he was talking about the parable he just told. They were wanting to know what it meant. The meaning was the "heavenly things" and the parable it self was the "earthly things"

and i didn't look up the verse....this is just off the top of my head so i don't know if i had the right verse...

I think earthly things referred to Jesus being the Messiah, and how he is the only way to get to heaven. Heavenly things refer to things like the seraphim, cherubim, and the glassy sea.

He is saying that we can not comprehend that dimension and existence when we can barely fathom this one.
