Honda civic oil change?
I have a 2004 civic that requires 5-20 oil. They put in 10w30. When I asked about this i was told this was ok during the winter months. Is this true? Thank you

NO!
In the cold is it a much thicker oil, and you can have problems when first starting the vehicle up.
The clearances in the motor are not designed for 10W30.
I have first hand seen a motor blow up from too thick of oil in the winter [keep in mind I live in Canada, I'm not sure how cold your winters are.]

Personally, I would stick with the 5-20. That's all I ever use in my Honda Civic. I live in Chicago with some cold winters and hot summer too. When in doubt, refer to your owner's manual.

Follow instructions in your Owner's Manual. If you have true winter/summer conditions where you live, 5W-20 is OK to use during the cold weather and 10W-30 is OK to use during hot weather. In Southern California, I use 5W-30 all year around.

my sister used 5-20 in her carolla and the oil light used to come on.she switched to 10-30 and hasnt had any trouble.i run 10-30 in ALL my gas rigs and have had NO trouble.

You should know this your a guy. I'm a girl and do my own oil changes. You love cats, and you can't change your oil. Pussy lol
