Canada's Health Care System is "Imploding", Is this what you really want?

"Canada's healthcare system 'imploding' "

http://www.examiner.com/x-2888-World-News-Examiner...

http://www.canadafreepress.com/index.php/article/1...

Dr Ann Doig: President of the Canadian Medical Association

"We all agree that the system is imploding, we all agree that things are more precarious than perhaps Canadians realize...We know that there must be change...We're all running flat out, we're all just trying to stay ahead of the immediate day-to-day demands."

"Dr. Anne Doig says patients are getting less than optimal care and she adds that physicians from across the country - who will gather in Saskatoon on Sunday for their annual meeting - recognize that changes must be made."

Canada Population = 30,000,000

USA Population = 330,000,000

Is This REALLY what you want?

Average Waiting Periods - October 2009

Pediatric Surgery - 196 Days

Cancer - Avg 63 Days

Bypass - 58 Days

Knee Replacement - 178 Days

MRI - 115 DAYS

CatScan - 81 Days.

Again, 30 Million --- We have 10x that ! Think about it !

Update:

Rationing is NOT written in the Bill.. But it is the "inevitable" result of increased demand and reduced supply.

Update 2:

For those who say we are not heading towards "single payer".

Have you not heard the words of Obama himself?

Do you not realize that private companies (who need profit to survive) will go away in the face of a government program that is willing to lose billions or trillions ?

Yes, rationing is the next "unintended consequence" of a liberal social program set to hurt the people and bankrupt the country.

It's like a broken record. Aren't people getting tired of this yet? Why can't libs figure this out?

Just how much do Canadians pay per month for their NHS?Is it anywhere near $10,000 the deductible that Americans have to pay before getting a freebie? Whether it's in Canada or America, are these services supposed to KEEP you healthy, and catch a "problem" early before it spreads throughout a person's body!

Here, they were talking about women not getting a mammogram until they are fifty! Mammograms, right now, cost $93.00! That's all! Some deductibles add up to MORE than that, so, if I felt I needed one along with my doctor, I would go out and have the mammogram and pay for it myself!!! And all this fuss about abortions!!! A D & C Procedure is done in all the hospitals everyday, both procedures have the same results! Terminating a pregnancy! One, they consider it a crime by religious teachings, the other is not! No doctor gets murdered for performing the latter. So why don't they stop calling the procedure an abortion!?? Why are they picking on simple and relatively inexpensive procedures to, SAVE MONEY, when they should be investigating the fraudulent bills sent in by hospitals!?? The majority of the equipment has been paid for a thousand times over. Cancer patients in some cases, get their "therapy" once a week by injection, and you are in and out of the office in twenty minutes. Any care the patient needs is usually done at home by a family member after five minutes of instructions from a nurse! It is very rare for the patient to have to stay over-night. The hospitals keep charging more and more, and the quality of care and cleanliness goes down. Floors used to be mopped with disinfectant everyday, bathrooms were sanitized, but that doesn't happen anymore! I wouldn't give the food they serve you to my dog, so what are they doing with all the money they squeeze out of us and our insurance companies! If all these delays are because there aren't enough nurses and doctors to go around, then why doesn't the government help students who want to become nurses and doctors who really can't aford to go to college, instead of giving a grant to some kid who wants to know how to basket weave!!! And DON'T that's stupid! I happen to know someone who did just that! He literally became a permanent student on the Governments money!!! He is way over forty now, and is STILL in college!!!! Something else too, why must a person be stuck in one State to receive health care? If they call it Universal Health care, we should be able to get help anywhere in the country!!

If the reforms pass, the USA will not be getting the system that Canada has. It will be getting the system in Holland, Taiwan and Switzerland.

FACT - Insurance companies in the USA admit to pushing up prices, buying politicians and not paying out claims when they should [1]

FACT - PER PERSON the USA spends more on healthcare than any other nation on the planet [2]

FACT - Obama debated his plans before the election for healthcare [3]

FACT - the chance of a child under five of dying in the USA is greater than industrialised nations with universal health coverage [4]

FACT - Obama was elected by the American people to bring in change [5]

FACT - Obama wants to stop insurance companies from screwing American [6]

FACT - The reforms Obama wants work in the Netherlands and Switzerland [7]

Let me know if my facts are wrong, but please provide proof.

You have to laugh at the Liberals who think it will be better with all the evidence against it!! Countries with it are all running in the red trying to afford their health care programs like Canada and Europe. They will be saying "what the hell have we done" when they have to wait in lines or months for medical care! They'll be saying "at least we only had to wait a couple of hours before"!!

From the UK, an article from 5 years ago in 2004:

Steps to improve efficiency and cut bureaucracy in NHS, UK

UK Health Secretary, John Reid, today published the implementation framework for the review of Department of Health's Arm's Length Bodies (ALB's), setting out the first steps in reducing the number of bodies from 38 to 20.

    John Reid said

"The organisation of arm's length bodies has grown over several decades and no longer meets the health and social care needs of today or the future. In July I announced the completion of the review of my department's arm's length bodies (ALBs) and we are now delivering:

    -- a 50 per cent. reduction in the number of ALBs;

-- a saving of 500 million in expenditure by ALBs by 2007-08; and

-- a 25 per cent. reduction in posts in the same period.

"This is a vital step in the NHS's long-term programme of reform to improve efficency and reduce bureaucracy. The framework document I am publishing today sets out a clear structure for the remaining arms length bodies, along with specific timescales for change.

"By improving efficiency and cutting bureaucracy in arms length bodies, this government is reducing the administrative burden on frontline NHS staff while freeing up extra resources for services for NHS patients.

And an article on the same subject from only days ago:

NHS bureaucracy bill soars by £78 million in two years

The amount spent on employing managers has risen by a quarter, or £78 million, in the past two years, the study shows. NHS Trusts blamed Whitehall targets for the increase.

It comes a day after NICE, the drugs rationing watchdog, refused funding for life-prolonging bowel cancer drug Avastin, saying it was not cost effective.

Pulse, a magazine for GPs, found that projected spending on management salaries has increased by 25 per cent between 2007/08 and 2009/10 in primary care trusts, which look after community services. It was up from £312million to £390million.

But the true figure is likely to be far higher, because only a third - 55 - of the 152 trusts responded.

The rise is largely down to trusts taking on more managers, with 15 that provided headcounts saying the number of posts had gone up 14 per cent.

These trusts also reported that the cost per manager had risen by 11 per cent. David Stout, director of the NHS Confederation's PCT Network, said it was "unrealistic" for such increases to continue.

    Seems the bureaucracy won.

No sir, not in the least bit. Many are stuck on the idea that Obama can do no wrong and, well, that is wrong.

You do know that single payer (what Canada has) is not even being considered? All they are talking about is gov subsidized insurance. It's a false comparison.

    Don't use facts against Liberals.

They don't like it when you do that.
