Climate scientists holding the world's raw data of temperatures sd in emails they'd dump data not give for FOI?
Act requests. Now the Times reports the raw data of temperatures over 150 years has been dumped and the scientists kept only their 'massaged' (they call it 'value added') figures.
So is there any basis for a meeting in Copenhagen at all at this point?
brown, even if the Warmers are right about man caused warming, this is a scandal undermining their data. It is definitely news. And the question remains now whether the Warmers have justification for their agenda based in fact.
future, and that explains the emails about destroying documents and the raw data dump? How, exactly? And the emails colluding to discredit journals that published opposing views? You don't seem up on this. Google climategate.
Laughing man, yeah, too bad it has cooled in the last ten years.
john, but Senator Inhofe is holding hearings on these emails and the underlying data before the Senate approves anything.

I thought it interesting that much of the data machine were placed on asphalt or by an air conditioning exhaust and stuff like that. You have to think that the people they hired knew what they were doing. I remember a 75 day drought and then a foot and half of snow in San Antonio when I was there. That was the first time more than an inch had ever been recorded. I agree with John and others as it is a power grab, another "ripoff".
I talked with a contractor that is sort of an authority. before and leading up to Katrina he stated here in our state and the south they were having to install dehumidifiers under houses. This had to do with the barometric pressure. Also here in Mississippi over the last three years we still have to run the heat up till mid June sometimes as it is still cold. Normally you can be brave and go skinny dipping in march, but no later than April or may. So maybe they should tell the weather. Don't forget the "ice age" of the 70s lore.
I do think that someone that had been in rehab would love to go there as it is known for premo drugs, ha, ha.
Have a great holiday!

I certainly think that discarding the original data is, if not deliberate fraud, a breach of scientific protocol that is indefensible and should bear with it whatever consequences can be brought against the guilty parties. However-as I have said repeatedly in various ways-I am not sure that the number of scientists involved is significant in terms of the larger community, and I do not think that their emails indicate what the anti-AGW contingent wants to say they do. At this point, I think what we have here are a few over-zealous researchers who may have compromised pure scientific methods; rather than engaging in outright fraud or manipulation of data, I suspect that they chose variables, 'adjustments' and so on that they could ultimately justify; the problem is that by discarding the original data they made it difficult to replicate their research, and that is where the real problem lies. Moreover, though, I think the actions of what appear to be a few (albeit powerful and influential) researchers may be a setback to what I believe are reasonable, vital and forward-thinking steps that we need to take to ensure long term economic, geopolitical and environmental viability in the face of a huge and growing global population. I believe that the tone of the 'debate' thus far has distracted us from serious dialogue about that viability for a long time, and the tone of the debate here at Y/A in some quarters since the disclosure of the hacked emails has clearly disclosed that the argument over the science behind climate change is not about the science at all, but opposition to political positions. All that being said, let me reiterate that I concur with your opionion that there is NO proper reason to delete raw data; however, I think it is premature to reach conclusions about what the emails themselves show and how significant deleting any of them are. We may find-as we did during Watergate-that deleted emails are as meaningful to the outcome of any investigation as the 18 missing minutes of tape were to the Nixon Administration. On the other hand, at this time I suspect that the deleted emails are far less significant than the emails deleted by Cheney, et al during Bush's tenure. Will these acts of deleting emails become legally verboten by people in public service? I don't know and am not sure where I would stand on the matter, but it is interesting how advancing technology has presented new problems...the contemporary version of the document shredder, I guess.

The meeting in Copenhagen isn't about climate, it is about power. That is why it is still going to happen. Many leaders from around the world are going to give more power of their countries over to the UN. Climate is just the excuse they are going to give to the people. You will die if we do not tell you how you can live and people will believe that even in light of what has been discovered. Many scientists have been telling us that the data doesn't match up with the claim for a long time.

Any decent scientist would never, ever dump the original raw data. That's the basis of all their studies. I understand a lot of the sensors are now near paved parking lots and on roofs. Those are places they should never be by placement specifications. The older units probably weren't.
It seems pretty obvious to me that many of the "scientists" are eco-bigots and don't deserve the credence they are given.

There is no basis for a meeting but they will pass a global treaty in regards to save the planet anyways because this is about a power grab and not cutting CO2 emissions. If they actually wanted to do so, they would start banning and not taxing.

See this is the whole problem with global temperatures. This does not look good when so much data is just discarded. People that believe in global warming want everyone to believe it. However, they still don't want us to have doubts and then someone goes and does this. Don't the realize that this does not help their cause.

Yes.
Global Warming was all a Giant HOAX.

who knows...?...but if the "believers" do not address overpopulation in Copenhagen (read "cause")...
then any other issue is a joke (read "effect").

Evidently due to this e-mail conspiracy, Arctic sea ice is at historically low levels, Australia is on fire, the northern United Kingdom is underwater, and the world’s glaciers are disappearing. Oh yeah, and it’s the hottest decade in history.
ROTFL!!!!!!!!!!
