CAN THE PLAYER HOLDING THE FOOTBALL GET A PENALTY FOR "FACEMASKING"?
I was watching the Florida State Univ. at Univ. of Florida game and Tebow had the ball, but he also facemasked an FSU player for a good amount of yardage (still holding the ball mind you) and never got a penalty for it. Was it just overlooked? Or can the person WITH the ball get away with facemasking an opponent?
I'm a UF fan, btw. So I don't really care what you have to say about the call, or lack thereof. I just want to know if the player w/ the ball can get away w/ things other players can't. So please don't come on here bashing me for liking Tebow, b/c I'm not a fan of him anyway. lol. Just answer the question at hand.
When he facemasked him, he had a GRIP on his facemask, and was still running. But the dude was running still too, so it's not like he was being thrown down. And btw, I said NO OPINIONS YOU F*CKING IDIOTS. JUST ANSWER THE FREAKIN' QUESTION.

No the offensive player can't get called for a face mask. It is called a stiff arm and is totally legal for the offense to do. i think it's dumb but yeah they can do it.

A 'stiff arm' is when the runner pushes the defender away. If he GRABS the face mask, it's illegal. In fact, it happened in one of today's games. It's a personal foul, and 15 yards.

They can get away with it more often, but there is such thing as Offensive Facemasking, and they do call it when they see it.

Tebow= a dirty player. It is illegal for anyone to grab the facemask.
