Does Congresswoman Sheila Jackson Lee need to borrow a teleprompter?

She just said (on a live news broadcast) "Al Qaeda is not in Afghanistan" ..?

Where is she getting her information?

Update:

She did not say "Based in Afghanistan" she said "They're Not In Afghanistan" !

Update 2:

Got it? Words mean something.

Update 3:

@ "Why because she's black?" < Did I say a damned thing about that? No I did not but you sure did.

Update 4:

Sorry but for anyone to say Al Qaeda (is not in) Afghanistan is insane period.

Update 5:

@ Looks like she's been "coached". - yep you know they were working the phones this morning.

    Uh oh..

    Looks like she's been "coached".

This is nothing more than a set-up to try and excuse the fact that Obama will not give his General anywhere near the number of troops he has requested.

Al Qaeda is mainly in Pakistan and Uzbekistan. Only a small minority have stayed to fight in Afghanistan.

According to a report on Fox News and General Petraeus, she is correct...

"The head of U.S. Central Command said Sunday that Al Qaeda is no longer operating in Afghanistan, with its senior leadership having moved to the western region of Pakistan.

Gen. David Petraeus said affiliated groups have "enclaves and sanctuaries" in Afghanistan and that "tentacles of Al Qaeda" have touched countries throughout the Middle East and northern Africa. But he said the terrorist group has suffered" very significant losses" in recent months, and agreed with Afghan President Hamid Karzai's recent assessment that there is no Al Qaeda based in his country. Where is she getting her information?

Perhaps the Congresswoman is getting her information from the head of U.S. Central Command General David Petraeus, and the CIA,

(as reported by major news sources like CNN as well as yellow journalism rags like fox):

    CNN:

WASHINGTON (CNN) – U.S. CENTCOM Commander Gen. David Petraeus said Sunday that al Qaeda, the terrorist group that organized and carried out the September 11, 2001 terrorist attacks, is not based in Afghanistan.

    FOX:

“The head of U.S. Central Command (Gen. David Petraeus) said Sunday that Al Qaeda is no longer operating in Afghanistan, with its senior leadership having moved to the western region of Pakistan.

Gen. David Petraeus said affiliated groups have "enclaves and sanctuaries" in Afghanistan and that "tentacles of Al Qaeda" have touched countries throughout the Middle East and northern Africa. But he said the terrorist group has suffered" very significant losses" in recent months, and agreed with Afghan President Hamid Karzai's recent assessment that there is no Al Qaeda based in his country.”

    CIA

Robert Grenier (a longtime CIA officer who served as the CIA's top counter-terrorism official) and Dr. Marc Sageman (who served in the CIA on the Afghan Task Force), appearing before Congress concurred that escalation in Aghanistan would only further spread anti-American sentiment among Afghans and other Muslims, and that nonmilitary initiatives to contain Al Qaeda and foster civic development in Afghanistan would prove far more effective.

"The president's strategy is to disrupt, dismantle and defeat Al Qaeda in Afghanistan," he said. "Is it a fair judgment to say that that has happened?... They're not in Afghanistan"

Republican Senator Richard Lugar, asked “Who would we be surging against [in Afghanistan]? Sageman said "A Taliban return to power does not automatically mean an invitation to Al Qaeda to return to Afghanistan," "The relationship between Al Qaeda and...[the] Taliban has always been strained." “Al Qaeda is not in Afghanistan”

(I'm curious,,, Did someone just thumbs-down General Petraeus? The CIA? CNN? Fox? or just Facts they don't want to hear? :)
