What are some conflicts between westernization and the traditional muslim way of life?

I don't think that's what he means. He means, Westernization promotes democracy and the supremacy of the individual, vs. Islam tries to insure that everything is measured by the Koran and nothing ever changes. Westernization promotes education for girls as well as boys, while traditional Islam keeps women at home, without educations and without jobs, totally dependent on their families; only family members are allowed to see the female family members for modesty's sake; while Western girls and women show a lot more skin and presumably are busy enticing poor males all the time. IN traditional Islam the father is the head of the family and he makes all decisions for his children. Western cultures encourage children to become independent and go out on their own as soon as possible.

Islam says Sharia (church law) is supreme and makes all laws and decisions as to how to live; while Westernization says we the people decide on our own laws, according to what we want, not God, "we the people" are supreme.

Islam goes by laws given in the 7th century and feels they not only can't be improved upon but should NOT be changed. Westernization says that man is a thinking creature and we should constantly seek for improvement.
