Marijuana, should it be legal?

In America it is illegal and considered a felony to be caught with any or a certain amount of it.

California and Oregon both are leineit when it comes to both possession and the sale of. For every other state the laws against it are (to me) pathetic........#1. Is marijuana a drug? Yes, why? Look up the definition of drug. #2. Is it hazardous to one's health? Yes it can be!

But alcohol, pres. drugs(which some have far worse side effect) are legal. I was on Xanax for 3 years and was hooked it took a little weed every now and again to help!!!

Marijuana is a plant to which the usage dates back a thousand years and is less habit-forming than alcohol and some pres. drugs.

ALSO IF YOU HAVE NEVER SMOKED POT YOU CAN NOT SAY A THING.............PERSON WITH BEST REASONS WHY WINS.............

I am not a marijuana user but i do know people that are and i support the legalization of marijuana as the main issue with it is that the fact that it is illegal as this raises its value and as the trade is not policed the people involved are at risk from one and other growers can be killed out of greed sellers can mix other drugs in with marijuana mainly with tines and many try alternative ways of policing which generally in there interest e.g guarding the crop. if it was legal it would be safer and in a country like mine that's second biggest market is tourism the legal use of marijuana could provide a lot of wealth

A number of people have said 'with a prescription', but that's not true, exactly. Doctors are not allowed to prescribe pot. They can only 'recommend' it. There's a form you can download and get your doctor to sign, and then if you are carrying this form you can possess up to 8 ounces of pot. Pot is sold in some coffee houses that are also registered with the state. And there are private agencies issuing photo ID cards to help identify you as someone who has the right to buy pot. There's a neighborhood in Oakland called 'Oaksterdam' that has the places where pot is sold, also training in growing, etc. My GF has been through this process. She has cancer and is having chemotherapy (actually she's doing very well, thank God). She got the form signed, got an ID card, and has bought pot a few times. It's good pot too, and very reasonably priced. I think it really helps her. Pot is still illegal on the federal level, and once in a while the DEA comes in and closes down the coffee houses. But the state will not prosecute us. In fact many cities in California have decided not to waste police and court time on minor marijuana offenses.

I am 49 years old. Over the years, I have known people who became "pot heads" or regular, daily users of marijuana. They really do get stupid using it. Brain cells die and people who were once bright and social begin to lose brain function and gradually become a dullard.

I'm all for the occasional joint but marijuana is destructive when you smoke it every day.

i believe for medical reasons because i know some people who have to go through dialysis and other things and when their body is hurting it makes them relax, but you do become a marshmellow if you smoke it everyday and really don't have a reason to smoke it other than you wanting too.
