What does it mean to have a style of speech that is excessively impressionistic and lacking in detail?

It means that the language lacks substance. The primary purpose to to infuse a conversation with DRAMA. We're talking about flowery, expansive, excessive, heavily emotion-laden language designed to capture attention, rather than to communicate per se.

Think "drama queen" and you'll be on the right track.

You don't need to tell me that it has to do with Histrionic Personality Disorder, I am looking at a page about it, but I don't understand what that symptom means.
