It is just a guideline. If it looks and smells ok then it should be fine. Use you instincts.....not so long ago there were no use by dates on food. We waste too much perfectly good food these days.

there are three types of Information you tend to see on food packaging they are sell by date then best before date but the most important one by far is the use by date as this is the one that anyone in the food industry have to obey the sell by and best before dates are merely there for you to know that these products really are best before these dates it is not to say that they go bad after that date as it might be a product that may alter in taste or texture or even colour like instead of being a vibrant red it may look more of a brown colour but will still be perfectly safe for you to consume now the really important date that should be observed at all times with food and that is the use by date and to eat any food after that date and you could end up running to the loo a lot or even worse end up extremely ill in hospital but there is one way around the use by date and that is to freeze the food item so say the use by date is the 25 of june but you were to freeze it on the 23 of june that would give you two days to use it by once defrosted so best before and sell by dates are just to let you know that they would be nicer than they would be after that date and the use by date is what lets you know to use it before that date or be ill

Being a few days out of date will make no difference. They were repulsive in date and they will stay repulsive afterwards, like all sausages.

Best before is as it says on the tin. They will taste best before that date.
Use by date is the one you must look for, as to when to eat something. If it's use by date was today (2nd), they MUST be eaten today, no later.

I doubt one day would make a difference, especially if you're going to cook the sausages.

If it says best before the 1st then it should be fine. As long as they don't stink or look bad. =)

Of course it wont. Do you think there is a switch in them that makes them go off on a certain day?

Food doesn't have a brain, and does not automatically expire on the best or use by date.

As long as you cook them till they're piping hot all the way through they'll be fine .
Source(s): Use your nose and your eyes to tell if food is bad , not the dates on the packets . - 1 decade ago
best before is ok its just a guideline if its a use by then thats the one youve got to adhere to
