    2/x + x(x - 4) = 7/(x^2 - 4x)

    2/x + x /(x - 4) = 7 / x( x - 4)

    now multiply through by x( x - 4)

    so x( x - 4) (2/x) + x( x - 4)[ x/( x - 4) ] = x( x - 4)[ 7/x( x - 4) ]

    after tidying up we get 2( x - 4) + x^2 = 7

    2x - 8 + x^2 -7 = 0

    x^2 + 2x - 15 = 0

    ( x + 5)( x - 3) = 0 => x = -5 x = 3
