Has our government has used the "Support our troops" sentiment to get people to support their political aims?

I support our troops 100%. But I also think that over the past decade, we have been told that we must support the troops. And sometimes I think this sentiment has been exploited by our leaders as a way to also get us to support their wars.

Do you agree?

Yes. I remember Bush telling us that, to support the troops, we must support the war.

Which is odd. Seems to me that, to support the troops, you would want them home drinking hot chocolate with their kids.

The Nazis also used that type of propaganda.

Anyone who didn't agree with them was "unpatriotic" to say the least.

That's the oldest trick in the book to try to drum up support for wars which the people don't want.
