Atheists, can we look at the Christian history optimistically?

Yeah, sure some people were "hurt" as they like to say. some cultures were wiped out and/or desecrated, and science still hasn't recovered yet, but from a bad past comes some good experience (I mean the kind that makes you wise, not the remembering kind).

The Catholic church makes a great example for running a business (1500 years and still rich as hell is pretty good business) if you want to run a business do it like the Catholics.

1. Slander the competition

2. Slander/destroy anyone who agrees with the competition or says your slandering the competition

3. Completely eradicate, slander, and deform the competition so when anyone asks about them no one remembers the truth.

4. When someone does remember the truth, make some photos of them kissing Hitler and everything will be alright.

5. Plagiarize the competition and repeat steps 1-4, you don't want to spend to much time on your product as you'll probably be dead when anyone realizes something is up anyway.

6. Make a product that everyone HAS to have, or they could suffer greatly without it.

7. Make the product impossible to prove wrong without giving long boring scientific discussions (that's when you have your faithful gullible customers with a short attention span)

8. Try to make it seem that similar products are not only worthless, but make your product unusable.

9. Once you have plenty of popularity, wealth and power you won't really have to worry about steps 1-8 as your loyal customers will advertise for you.

10. Sit on a throne, maybe wear a funny hat and enjoy.

See? The Catholic history is good for something.

that is in basic terms approximately impossible to respond to. Messianic Judaism is probable closest to what Jesus believed, in spite of the incontrovertible fact that that is a particularly modern-day progression i think of. Jehovah's Witnesses are directly to a brilliant form of issues, closer to the bible than all super church homes, yet in addition they're new. Quakers are probable closest to John the Evangelist, they're from the 1600s. i do no longer think of there is any persevering with line from Jesus's time before that maintains to be close to to the bible. maximum massive denominations adhere to the nicene creed, which has no longer something in any respect to do with the recent testomony. concept in the trinity is incompatible with the recent testomony, and no state church has ever taken the sermon on the mount heavily. this manner of is sensible because of the fact the sermon on the mount replaced into no longer adressed to rulers yet to the individuals, yet nevertheless the content cloth of christianity replaced into formed by utilizing state church homes, so there is not any smart persevering with line of christianity. submit to in concepts that some christian writers recognized this from the very initiating of state popularity of christianity: the thought-with regards to the invisible community of christians as no longer same to an prepared church already superior in the 300s. So the respond must be the invisible church, the genuine believers, scattered among the denominations. Galenus Abrahamsz., a Dutch Baptist minister, of the seventeenth century claimed precisely that. in spite of the incontrovertible fact that that is not any longer probably a satisfying answer is it?

The Church has certainly been an amazing success -- I'll grant you that. Name me another organization that could provide shelter for pedophiles, get caught doing it, and still remain in business. Phenomenal!

The Nephites and the Lamanites are all converted to the Church of Christ—They have all things in common, work miracles, and prosper in the land—After two centuries divisions, evils, false churches, and persecutions arise—After three hundred years both the Nephites and the Lamanites are wicked—Ammaron hides up the sacred records.
