If you go to http://www.google.com/ you still have a link "Go to Google.com" which points to

    http://www.google.com/ncr

If you have a Google account, it's in your preferences :

    http://www.google.com/preferences?hl=en

Google has offices and search engine servers in most countries. I live in Australia and the Google URL is http://www.google.com.au./ That's no problem, it still searches the entire WWW, it just relieves the strain on the .com server. The search option will also give you the opportunity to do searches in your own country, which makes for quick searching. The .com server doesn't give you that choice.
