What is Poetry.....................?

A mixture of powerful and potent words,

The language of Love and its attributes

Romanticism encapsulate din linguistics

Random thoughts interwoven in a tapestry of rhythm...?

Update:

Love spurned, turned sour becomes dark and malevolent

And in its haemorrhaging makes aware of unhealed wounds

Unspoken tunes, unheard imploring feigned as adoring,

Babbling flows as a stream when the mind unshackled flies free...

The bitter and twisted tones of a wretch enchained by its sorrow

Makes awesome inspiration for poetic epics in prose or verse.

Update 2:

The mind, heart and soul inspired, invoke

beautiful words, wondrous prose healing in the uttering and listening,

Update 3:

As if a magical tapestry, of the senses given wings, of a higher realm.

Be Inspired.

Update 4:

As if a magical tapestry, of the senses given wings, of a higher realm.

Be Inspired.

Ah poetry, speaks to my soul, to my senses

Echoes sentiments I could not place in words

Opens a window in the recess of my slumbering mind

Awakening me to a supernal and ethereal realm

A rich tapestry indeed, embroidered by the needle of truth

Sewing gems with threads of gold on a fabric of finest linen

A kaleidoscope of colours interwoven upon this enlightened heart

Finds its solace comforting in the darkness of its dispirited pain

Interlacing in resonant cognisance, entranced and enamoured

With self, and love and world, beguiling, enchanting, poetry

Speaks to my soul, my heart into depths unreached and unknown

Chance upon the words of one echoing the tone I could not scribe

Spoken by one adored, alas, applaud poetry, the language of Love indeed

In words, in love within and inimitably fresh, renewed witch each text

With its spirit of sense and allure colours all in its rainbow tone

Endures as melody to my enraptured ears, poetry. Beautifully babbling...

Not sure that poetry is 'random thoughts'... More often connected or related, than merely random I would have thought?

Not actually sure that the words are always 'powerful and potent' in and of themselves... but the way they are combined and juxtaposed gives a poem power and potency perhaps...

And as for love and romanticism... well, yes poetry may be used for these... but perhaps a more apposite word is 'passion' -- because a passion can be 'dark', can be 'cynical', can be '...anything but romantic or lovely'... and often these 'unlovely' qualities make the most powerful of poems...

that is poetry, and so is this I believe

    symbols from symbols to symbolize

    what cannot be perfectly symbolized

but as humans we try oh so hard

    to communicate our emotions

and creativity is the one instrument

for the playing of these desires

a union of feeling through words

    translations of our heart

    imprinted forever in time

    poetry is words

    blended and bended

    to fit the occasion

    a play on words

    or words of play

    to convey

    from my life to yours...
