I'm looking to get a riding lawn mower and I would like some advice on what to get.?

I have a one acre lot and I've looked around and home depot poulan looks like the best one. The troy bilt at lowes has quite a bit of bad review and same for the craftsman at sears. All three are around a 1000 bucks and thats what im looking for. Has anyone ever owned any of these three brand or know anyone who has.

Update:

im looking for something around a 1000 bucks all those john deeres and cub cadet start at like 1500 thats out of my price range

My recommendation would be a cub cadet. You might only be able to get a used one but it will be the best one for your money. John deer makes a very good mower also , but they are way over priced. I have orked on cub cadets for many years as a mechanic and they are by far one of the easiest ot work on. I woeked on many others also and cussed many of them. I would recommend about a 9-10 horse. i had 10 acres at the time but only weekly mowed about 1 acre using a 10 horse. It was plenty of power.

When choosing used: look for good tires, check steering links, brakes, and compression.

    Good luck

I don't know what to get but I know what NOT to get-Sears lawnmower. We have one and it has been nothing but trouble! A real lemon. You usually get what you pay for. How about an exmark or small cub cadet? They are good machines.
