What do I need to buy to get my subwoofers working properly?

This Christmas I am getting subwoofers. I need an amp. Please help! I am looking for the cheapest yet sufficiently powered amp.

Subs-

Also, what else do I have to buy to connect everything? I have the stock reciever (98 honda accord) do i have to buy a new receiver?

Any other tips on this would be appreciated. I have never done this before and I want to do it myself. Thank you!

cheap amp equals cheap sound. bank on it! best investment is in a good amp which will last u years.

try http://www.sonicelectronix.com/, they have some great stuff in terms of amps- avoid the cheapos- no boss or pyramid. also http://www.onlinecarstereo.com/ Crutchfield also has some nice amps when on sale. as for the box, u could do much better. forget the glare and focus on quality sound. I would suggest also replacing the front speakers with some nice polk, Alpines to give a good balance to the subs (assuming they'll be in the back). The head unit can stay if u want. Remember hondas have no preamp inputs so consider swapping the radio (if u want to avoid splicing lines to feed the amp) for a good deal on a simple one (power not req'd- u have an amp). Actually yeah, swap the radio with a decent aftermarket as those can power the front speakers and u can buy a cheaper amp as it will be 1 channel for the subs.

you'll also need an amp wiring kit and speaker cables.

heres a good tip dont buy those subs atleast buy sony explodes you can get 2 10s for 100 at walmart or 2 12s for 140 and a 1200 watt amp for 120 so 220 for 10s with a amp 12s for 260 with amp not much more than the duals with way better quality either way your gonna spend 100-150 on a amp get a sony radio 90 at walmart and it comes with 2 61/2 speakers for the front and 2 6x9s for the back so about 400 and you can have a complete sony system with all new speakers and 2 12s

the guy jon only listed 2 good brand infinity is OK all the rest are a_s_s

i only recomended sony because they are around the same price as what you were lookin at but better than dual. dual is one of the worst along with pyrimid and pyle

and he recomended dual and they super suck

Source(s): just trying to help you get a cheap system but if you want a good system get a kicker warhorse and a solo x 18 or 2 or same amp with fi 18 btl's

It depends entirely on you budget mate.

I wouldn't touch Sony (for car audio) with a barge pole! They are wan.k!

You shoud consider upgrading your HU for a start; pref one with a dedicated sub pre-out. Then get a decent Class D monoblock amp and a set of 12"s would be ideal.

I would recommend well known car audio brands. Never 'no-branded' products.

If you are on a budget, look at brands such as JBL, Vibe, Pioneer, Pyle, Infinity, Hifonics etc..

The subs you mentioned are not bad, considering your circumstances.

This amp is decent for a similar price to your subs:

Remember to include good quality cabling into your budget and Good Luck with the setup!!

P.S - Once again, NEVER Sony. Don't be a tool.

Source(s): Years of car audio experience. Started with Pioneer. Currently full JL setup.
