I noticed a lot of uninformed posters here. Saying that LSU wins because Penn State plays in the Big Ten (thanks, Ohio State) is just as idiotic as saying that Big XII teams can't win bowl games because Oklahoma (who has a much worse record in BCS bowls than the Buckeyes) can't do nothing but choke. For your information, Penn State is 3-4 in their last bowl games, including a 20-10 beating of Tennessee, who was one point away from beating Florida (national champion Florida) that year and an Orange Bowl win over Florida State who was the ACC champ in the 2005 season (the last big year for Florida State). Unlike Ohio State, Penn State owns the SEC, but that stat is meaningless here today. All that matters is that if Penn State gets stuck in the Capital One Bowl, they had better not play flat as if they are entitlted to a BCS bowl. No, they are not. PSU is 10-2 and only has two quality wins all year (Temple and Northwestern, but they were both blowout wins, 31-6 over a 9-3 Temple and 34-13 over a ranked Northwestern who is 8-4). But it's worth noting that all of Penn State's wins were blowout wins and neither loss was a blowout loss (both were closer than the score), so you could use that to say that Penn State is better than their record (PSU actually led 10-5 over Iowa early in the 4th quarter).

My prediction: Penn State would win by 17. Penn State is overrated this year, but LSU is ten times more overrated. Penn State at least destroys their cupcakes (their closest win all year is a 31-20 win over Indiana where the Hoosiers scored a garbage time TD to make it look respectable). Although Penn State is the worst elite team this year, LSU is the best middle of the pack team. They're like last year's Missouri. I think that Penn State's defense would shut down the LSU Tigers offense and the Penn State offense would power through the LSU defense, much like we did against Tennessee. SEC teams have speed on defense (for those who don't know "SEC speed" is meant to refer to defense, not offense), but they can't handle power. So for that we give them a healthy dose of Evan Royster. Only thing is, Penn State needs to get their kickoff coverage in order or it could only be a 10 point win or less. However, Penn State will probably win by a score like 31-14 over LSU, pulling away in the second half after a 10-7 halftime lead. Like Michigan did, LSU will try to blitz Penn State a lot, but won't succeed all that often, because Clark is usually good at escaping blitzes.

Also, "Penn State wouldn't win a PAC-10 game"? I know this year's team is different, but last year Penn State stomped Oregon State, the conference runner up 45-14. If you think PSU couldn't beat Washington State, you're crazy. Notre Dame beat them 40-14, and Notre Dame lost to Michigan, a team Penn State rolled 35-10 after pulling the starters midway through the third quarter (it was 32-10 before the starters were pulled).

LSU has a strong defense and Penn St. has O-Line issues. That is THE KEY to the game; Penn State's offensive line play. PSU will clamp down on LaFell, Clark will escape the pass rush and PSU will come out with a 21-10 win. I'm a Big Ten guy but have actually seen more of LSU than Penn St. this year. They will not win this game---book it.

SEC logic is they will manhandle the Big Ten because Ohio State got stomped a couple times. Go figure...

Penn State I think would win in a close game. Neither Penn State or LSU are as good as their ranking, however, I think LSU is only rated as high as they are because they play in the SEC, and the SEC as a conference is overrated after Florida and Alabama.

Penn State has the better coach, and actually plays well against the SEC, especially in bowl games. Since 1990 Penn State is 5-2 against SEC schools in bowl games.

LSU is overrated, but Penn State is just plain bad!

    LSU would roll.

Penn State wouldn't win a game in the Pac-10 this year.

Penn State by 10. Darryl Clark is the next Donovan McNabb and he would pass all over those scrubs in purple and yellow. LSU is a tough team.. I'll give them that. I just see Penn St. being the far superior team in a one on one matchup.

LSU by 14. LSU has a history in the past 10 years of crushing their opponents in bowl games.

Penn state by 10 I'd say.

you people and your SEC teams psh. Big 10 football is like nothing you people know. SEC football is too flashy. Big 10 is about how football is supposed to be played. NEVER underestimate a big 10 team.

I think it would be a very entertaining game. I'll go with LSU by 7. That's if Les Miles doesn't screw up coaching.
