How do I set up a small magnetic field?

I'm doing a science experiment. What effects do magnetic fields have on plant growth? How do i set up a magnetic field?

    Get a few magnets, put a couple together so they either repel or attract each other and mark their ends, N or S. Do that will all of them. Then set all of them in a row with all of the N's pointing in one direction. You now have a magnetic field..... It may not do what you want but it's there.... have fun...
