Tax: What pays for Public education?

Silly question, but I cant find the answer. What forms of tax pay for public education? Where I come from I know a lot of it has to do with property tax, but I dont think that's how it is for all of America. If anybody can help explain this to me I will be greatly appreciative.

Usually it's a combination of local tax (mostly property tax but some places other local taxes), and money from the state and federal governments.

every state and county have property taxes a portion of which are budgeted to education

and school districts get assistance from the Feds for education based on the attendance of each individual child
