A traveling crew or a local one?

I have a buddy who joined one of the traveling ones that worked their way from TX to ND, then back down for corn. While I'm not sure exactly what he made, he came out pretty good, the wages weren't the highest but his expenses were few. The crew had a trailer that followed for them to sleep in, and they would all chip in for groceries to help keep food expenses low when they had time to cook so there were a few cheap meals a week, and there were times where the customers brought out meals for them on the go. Basically the only expenses he had were cell phone, food, laundry, and whatever he needed in town.

A local one that stays put will likely pay less due to more people will be willing to work for one that stays put, as well as not going to find crops to harvest when things get slow. However will be much more convenient.

Pay with either will depend on the amount of work available. Most that I've heard of or dealt with charge by the acre. more acres covered means more hours for you and better pay. But really how much you'll make depends on the crew that you're on, how busy they can keep you.

    Custom Harvesting Pay

depends on futures,, x amount of total yield and its not really monthly unless you travel all over the U.S

you only get one 1 wheat harvest a year per field then move onto next farmer field

custom combining in the hi plains averages 10 -15 % total yield at the elevator per bushel,, check your local commodities for current bushel price
