Yeah... not many of them practice philosophy though.

You can't have people being that open cos... they really know it's büllshït.

Bertrand Russell: There is something feeble and a little contemptible about a man who cannot face the perils of life without the help of comfortable myths.

Almost inevitably some part of him is aware that they are myths and that he believes them only because they are comforting.

But he dares not face this thought!

Moreover, since he is aware, however dimly, that his opinions are not rational, he becomes furious when they are disputed.

Religion has no capacity to answer "how" realistically. Science can answer everything. Only science is brave enough to say that sometimes, there IS no why. Religion was created because people couldn't cope with the idea of not having a "why" to their lives.

    Philosophical enough for you?

According to our scientists: Ninety six percent of our universe is unidentified matter and energy. The four percent recognized by our scientists as visible ordinary matter, (labeled by them as a collection of protons, neutrons and electrons) are what we commonly call our stars, planets, including earth and living beings. Science acknowledges that they’re not able to identify ninety six percent of (what goes on in) our universe.

Upshot is that science claims to know (only) four percent of all there is to know. At least this is the one thing that they all agree on.

In contrast to this, the majority of prophesies in the bible have already come true with 100% accuracy.

I understand that this information will get me no brownie points but I thought that you would like to know.

Yeah. I'm not sure why there has to be a "why" to a lot of the questions they ask. There doesn't have to be an ulterior motive to things like life and death and sickness.

Source(s): To say evolution doesn't exsist is saying there is no such thing as change.

well, they have a somewhat point - however, the answer they give is highly interpretative and not very satisfying for many people - science enters the realm of 'why' and probably provides some more rigorous answers, like for instance with the hunt for the higgs boson which commenced about two weeks ago

You mean preaching and then backing it up with science, yeah it ticks me right off when they have a point I can't answer.

Yep, I've yet to see any 'why' question religion tackles better than science.
