Here are my favorite places for a burger
Burger Joint Haight at Steiner or Valencia near 17th.
Acme Burger Hause Divisadero at Hayes
Bills Clement at 25th great burgers with lots of creative toppings.
Custom Burger 7th at Mission another place that lets you top your burger your way

I also have to say in-& out burger. It may be fast food, but my goodness they do it right. Ask any chef and they will tell you in-& out is the place to go, especially for the price. It has been named the best fast food every more then once. They do only burgers, fries, and shakes or soda. They do not have hot dogs, fish sandwich, tacos or anything like that. So when you sell ONLY burgers, you better be great.

in-n-out and get animal style. is like a "secret menu" I live in NY and when i go to cali i always stop there and get #1 animal style. its soo good and good price too.
