. . . . but i don't understand why dallas is rated higher than philly when the eagles are one game up on the cowboys in the division and the conference. i would appreciate the explanation. thanks

we beat them head to head. plus, division game wins dont matter till they are all over with because that could change if the eagles beat us. if dallas played 1 division game and the eagles 3 and had the same record, would dallas be in first because they have a no losses, or the eagles because they won more division games?

If you're talking about power rankings, new ones won't come out until this week's games are finished. Before today, the Cowboys were 8-3, and the Eagles were 7-4.

Media hype. And the ratings were probably made before today, so Dallas and Philly would have been tied.

There are no NFL rankings. Only thing they use to rate teams are their team stats.
If you're referring to the ESPN power rankings, they haven't been updated yet. Even still, they are determined by a panel of "experts" that make their decisions based on opinion. Its no different than if you came out with your own rankings.
Either way it has no bearing on playoff or superbowl contention.

In the NFL, there are no ratings. That's the wonderful thing about an organized playoff.

its about who you beat not how much unless your undefeated cowboys plays some pretty hard teams
