How long does uncooked ground hamburger last in the refrigerator?
Bought 1lb of Hamburger that says sell by dec 1st. I have had it in the refrigerator since then and it's now dec 6th. It still looks ok, just slightly brown on the top of the meat. Is it still ok to cook and eat?
Thanks!

I've eaten that old of meat before and its been fine but you are at the end of its cycle in my opinion. You should cook it all the way through though, so no medium rare burgers. Most "experts" recommend meat be used within 2 days but like I said I've gone 5-6 days and its okay. If it has gotten the least bit slimy on the top then throw it out. Same if it has turned color (more than just a little bit).

You want to check the expiration date on the package of meat BEFORE you buy it. Never go beyond the expiration date. Some meat packaging companies use carbon monoxide to keep the meat looking pink and fresh when it otherwise would have turned brown or even spoiled. You can't just trust how it looks, or even smells. If you're not sure how long before you'll use a package of meat keep it in the freezer then thaw out in the refrigerator the day prior to using it, or use a microwave to defrost it.

Smell it. Chances are, once you take off the plastic wrap you'll notice a funky rancid smell. If you do, chuck it ASAP. If it still smells okay, you're probably safe as long as you thoroughly cook it to it's proper temperature.

Probably, but I would be very wary about using it and would check it out very carefully by smell and gut instinct.

I would say it is ok,but smell it and if there is fowl smell or sticky, pitch it.
