What's out there for amateur film artists like a steadicam?
Two shots I frequently use are video shots out the windshield of my car, and shots of my friends snow skiing (or other sports). I can't afford $800 for a steadicam (especially when I'm going to be using it with a $300 camcorder). Plus since I'm also skiing along side my friends it needs to be small, and light weight, preferably usable with only 1 hand. I wouldn't mind buying, or building, if I had a good idea (or good directions) on how to put it together.
Additionally, if anyone knows of a way to mount a camcorder to the dash of the car without permanently modifying the dash, or the camera, that would be appreciated

Are you attaching the camera to your windscreen?
There's some car mounts you can buy. Just type in "suction camera mount" in to google you'll get loads of hits.
There's actually a cheap (not too effective, but it works slightly) way of getting a steadycam and that's to put your camera on the tripod and just carry the tripod around. I works a little but it's not great.
Ebay's a good place to look for steadycams, don't know if you'll find one for less than $800 though, you've already had a good look about?

yeah lessons are great you really learn a lot. if you have the money, definitely go, cus i went and man if there was a comparison for how i was b4 and after, it looks like 2 different people. yeah i had that insecurity with creativity and stuff, but its just the lack of life experience. just learn a lot from school and observe the world and you will learn how to be creative. for practice, (example) if you are into games ( i am) try creating a list of characters from scratch and what kind of game, etc. Who is the main hero? the villain? who is the big muscle guy? who is the female character?, etc. make a character and design it, and say has this been done? what new creative spin can i do to improve it and not copy, but get inspired from?

There are couples of things available in the market that can be used to mount the camera inside your car like car suction mounts, head rest mount, etc. For your requirement, the best suited option is car suction mounts. It entirely depends upon the suitability of the person in terms of camera weight and type of camera he/she wants to mount.
Car suction mounts/grippers provide stable shots even when the car/truck is on the move. The car suction mounts are specifically designed for mounting lightweight cameras, camcorders, etc. to vehicle, whether inside or out. It is ideally designed to support the camera upto 5 kgs.
