If you are going to buy her a computer at such a young age I suggest getting her something small like a netbook as the keyboard will be much better suited to her hand size. Also, get her something sturdy and with reliable hardware so that she can use it for the next couple of years; something HP brand (definetely not dell :P). A Mac might be a good idea (except it's expensive as crap) as the interface on a Macintosh operating system is bubbly and colourful and easy to use. Although windows XP is also simple enough for a child to use. However, if you are good with computers, I would suggest installing Ubuntu or Kubuntu as they are both far more user friendly that either Windows or Mac OS'.

Depends on if you are talking about a computer to play on or like a REAL computer. I would get a good one so you don't have to buy another in another couple years. I don't know what your budget is, but macs are really good.
