    Interestingly, when Reid says "same tactics as the lawmakers who once tried to block progress on civil rights and women's rights" he is talking about the Democrats. In this case, the term "lawmakers" is interchangable with "Democrats" Look it up liberals, if you don't believe me!

    I wish he'd take a step back from the edge and look at himself. Republicans do not behave like Democrats. They never have and hopefully never will.

    Reid is an ineffective leader of the Senate. But then we have had many of his type at the head of this chamber in recent decades. Republican leadership in the Senate was weak and ineffectual, too. Corporate interests see the Senate as the lynchpin to blocking any legislation that might harm them--whether it profits the American people or not--and tend to make sure the leadership there is lame.

    The old Democratic Party of the South was the pro-states right, conservative party. The Old Republican Party of Abe Lincoln was the pro-federal government, liberal party based in the Northeast.

    The ideologies have switched.
