How committed are you to your beliefs?

What is your response to this?

“I once interviewed J. Krishnamurti, and as I was about to ask him a question beginning with the words, ‘Do you believe…?’ he stopped me and said, ‘I don’t believe in anything.’ Most people believe their thoughts, and if they have had a lot of thoughts on a given subject over time, there is a long-term investment in the belief of those thoughts. The good news is, first, that one need not believe one’s thoughts, and secondly, that there is no loss whatsoever in abandoning the long-term investment in what had been believed. On the contrary, without belief in habitual thought, there is clear seeing and open potentiality. It is what Suzuki Roshi meant when he said, ‘In the beginner’s mind, there are many possibilities. In the expert’s mind, there are few.’ ” ~ Dharma teacher Catherine Ingram

We hear so much in the R&S section regarding one's personal belief system being "superior" over another or all others. My 2nd question is, why must this be so when reality demonstrates that we "know" so little?

I got a massage today and she always does this like guided meditation at the end, so today she said to let go of my thought patterns because that is all that they are just thought patterns and they are not real, the only thing that is real is the love of God. I've been thinking all day that she is right, every time I start thinking thoughts that are negative I think these are just thought patterns they are not real only God's love is real and it makes me feel like I am free and full of possibility.

    J. Krishnamurti is an idiot and has no understanding to say this.

And we do know little when compared to everything out there. And my beliefs are not superior to any others. I just know a way to a better more complete life. And this is through Jesus. We all believe something different. you and I can hear the same thing and learn something different from it.

I just want those who do not know Jesus to know Jesus, life is better and more complete with Jesus in it. And we can also know the creator and not study creation, for creation will be destroyed by fire. But our creator will always be.

    bless you.

Although in Jodo Shinshu Buddhism, they translate ä¿¡ as "faith", it is more like "reliance". Faith means grasping some idea and not letting evidence move you. Reliance means reality will manifest itself, whatever I do, so I open myself to it and accept whatever appears, whether it matches my preconceptions or not. So I am not at all committed to my beliefs. I am committed to reality.

I agree with JK. Beliefs are the games and tricks of the ego to its survival at the perils of our true natural being!
