Birds on the Bat Fans what do you think about the Brad Penny signing?

I think he will be better than Joel Piniero. Piniero had a great year last year but it was the last in his contract. Definately a trend with him.

It would be nice to find something other than a reclamation project for Duncan but when you have two Cy Young candidates I don't necessarily think this has to be a priority. I just hope they can field a decent hitting team and get a setup man for Franklin.

Cardinals fans will discover what the Dodgers have long known, and the Red Sox found out last year. Brad Penny is a talented pitcher who just never can get it done for some reason. He struggles with injury, and even when healthy, you're lucky to get 5-6 innings out of him. All the talent in the world, but he's just lacking what it takes to put together a solid career. Still....when healthy he'll add to an already solid Cardinals rotation. Still, if I were the Cards, I'd have gone for Randy Wolf. Not quite as talented as Penny, but far more steady and consistent.

I could care less. The man doesnt strike out many batters and will give us what? 5-6 innings? That wont matter if the offense and defense suck. We need to figure out the outfield problem and the third base problem. Resign Joel Pinero seriously.

The teams who have bats without birds will quickly let Penny know how ineffective he really is.
