'96 honda Civic battery draining, any ideas?

i recently had to replace my battery because it kept dying, and would not keep a charge. so now i have a brand new battery, and the car drained it again! this is my first stop in trying to figure out the problem. i do not leave the dome light on, or headlights, i think it is a connection problem. thanks.

It could be your alternator is malfunctioning already. Check also the wiring connecting the battery and alternator. There could be a loose wiring causing it not to charge your battery. Check also for some shorted wire and belt tension. Hope this helps!

Sounds like a parasitic drain. Hook up an ammeter in series with your battery (neg side) and measure amp draw. It should be less than 50mA, if more start pulling fuses until amps drop to less than 50mA, and see what that is on the same circuit with the fuse.

Could be a charging system problem or a light staying on like the trunk light.
