My Labor just Stopped? WHY?

Ok So Im 35 weeks and The night before last, My hubby and I decided to have intercourse.

It ended up sending me into Labor!! Within an Hour after our "fun time" I was having contractions SO painful That I would have to stop and Hold onto something!

At the Hospital They kept me for 3 hours and I had dilated to a 2. My Contractions Eventually calmed downed ( still really painful ) And Because I wasnt dilating anymore they sent me home and told me to take a pain pill.

Well At home, I was still having smaller, milder contractions, That made me barely able to sleep, And Still a few smaller ones through out the next day along with Starting the Loss of my Mucus Plug and what looked like maybe a bit of pink watery blood.

And Today, 2 days later, They have STOPPED!! Believe me, Im SO happy for the Break, But Why did they just stop? Is this normal for labor to just "Stop"? I have been Relaxing lately (not doing much of anything) Could that be why?

Ok so hopefully I will be able to help you with this one! If what you are experiencing is the same as what I'm going through (sounds identical) then IT IS NOT BRAXTON HICKS!!! This has happened to me three times now and all three times it was brought on by intercourse! After the first two times I swore I wasn't having going to do the deed again until after bubs were born (twins). Well tonight me and my fiance thought we would give it a go!

BIG mistake. It put me into labour again. The first two times it happened to me I went to the hospital only to be sent home and offered pain medication or sleeping pills. (I didn't take either, just waited for it to pass)

My OB explained it all to me at my most recent appointment. It is called Threatened Prodromal Labour. Although it is a pain it is actually an important process. This type of labour, although it does not advance, prepares your cervix for Active Labour!

I know how painful it is hun and I feel for you I really do! My contractions tonight were 5 to 7 minutes apart and lasting well over 1 minute. Now just 4 hours later I am lucky to have one contraction an hour. It is very frustrating but my OB ensured me it means Active Labour is not that far off. Congratulations, your little one will be here before you know it!!!!

P.S. Check out this website it has some good info on Prodromal Labour.

You are ordinarily precisely correct. If your contractions have been that near in combination and also you have been already dilated to four cm they ordinarily could not quit the hard work and knew they did not have 24 hours to take a look at to get steroids on board for fetal lung progress. As a long way because the why it occurred, not often is a purpose recognized despite the fact that I'm definite you understand that a historical past of preterm hard work raises the threat of preterm hard work in a long run being pregnant.

You weren't in labor. Real labor will not stop or even slow down. You were experiencing Braxton Hicks. Be thankful, your baby still needs to bake!

sometimes between dialations contractions can stop.why i dont know.but they do.but if you feel somethings not right or dont know why they stopped for sure id suggest you call you obgyn and ask her yourself just for precausinary reasons. good luck and congratulations on your birth when it arrives,
