I HAVE TO GET RID OF THESE HAMSTERS!!!! Fayetteville N.C.?

I have asked both friends and pet stores. I bought a hamster that turned out to be pregnant when I got her and now the babies are 7 weeks old and I havent found a home for any of them yet. Ill even sell them as snake food if I can but I cant afford to feed them anymore. Does anyone want one?

Many pet stores will not take hamsters. Whether fear of bringing an ill animal into their store or just because hamsters breed so quickly and they may already have too many. Check before you take them in.

Snake food is a very viable option. Although sell vs. give-away is a question you may need to evaluate quickly before you have 4 times as many hamsters to get rid of. I have raised white mice as feeders for years. A friend had a number of hamsters that were resulting from some selective breeding experiments, and the culls were excess. The snakes never complained. (Neither did the hamsters for that matter, although they probably didn't enjoy the experience any more than the white mice did.)

Don't worry about the "cruelty-to-animals" crowd. That is the cycle of life. It is for a purpose, so it is not cruelty. Snake's gotta eat - and it's not going to be cereal.

Euthanasia is only a choice (in my opinion) if you cannot find a taker for your hamsters. But there are much better ways to handle it than drowning (which I do think is cruel). CO2 from Baking soda and vinegar is heavier than air and can be "poured" as a gas into a tall, narrow container with the animals. This will put them to sleep - permanently with no panic or pain.

    Hope this helps.

But the problem is I have heard that a lot of pet shops will not accept baby hamsters on the spot. So check the following, I thought about it and maybe they cud work:

    -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

    1) Check for a small animal rescue group in your area. They're usually up to their ears in hamsters, but they'll know how to give good care to the hammies until they find good homes.

    2) Or try the newspaper and maybe give your city on here so people know were you are. if someone from this site wants it. I have no idea if this is against the community guidlines to give out personal information but if you give out just your city i think your fine.

    3) Or go tell your parents and ask them to put an add in the paper

    4) Craigs list.com is a good place.

    5) Or go to the place where you got the mother and tell them that she got new babies

    GOOD LUCK!!!!

snakes don't eat hamsters and it's against the law! cruelty to animals.

Just give them to your pet store. The pet store where I'm from always takes newborn rodents.
