Would you buy your dog a bunch of one dollar dog toys?
We have a new business of making one dollar dog toys with or without squeaky toys. What do you think of this idea?
We have a large breed dog that will tear up and unstuff her toys in a matter of minutes. no matter how expensive the toy, that is her thing. take out all the puff and the squeaky toy!!! So i always try to find the most inexpensive toys at walgreens.
With my larger network of animal lovers, most of them feel my pain with their dogs and think that offering a one dollar toy would be nice.
What are your thoughts?
Thanks for all of your responses! Very helpful. The idea of this one dollar toy is that it is meant to be torn up, chewed up, and unstuffed in minutes. It hurts less knowing it only cost you one dollar rather than seeing your $7 toy be distroyed in 2 minutes.
True there are many durable toys out there on the market but with my dog, the fun is in the destruction and satisfaction taking out the squeaky!
I like the idea of no puff because it is messy!!
I have a 80lb dog and she loves to unstuff and tear up her toy. I give her a new one dollar toy once every few days and she is satisfied! My dog doesn't swollow her toys or the inside so we don't have that problem.
Lets face it dogs just don't care that its pink and furry!
Where we live, they don't sell one dollar toys at the 99cent store, big lots, etc.
Cheapest i could find is about $2.50 at walgreens (sometimes)
oh and this will be sold online at http://www.onedollardogtoy.com/ (not up yet)
Our mission: for one toy purchased, we donate one toy to a dog in need at a shelter/rescue.

YES, please. Hold the fluff!
Same thing at our house except its an organized execution. The face is ripped off by one, then the long-muzzled dog rips out the guts and everyone helps distribute it over as large an area as possible then the squeakers are punctured by the youngsters. The mutilated carcass provides great tug fun as one youngster holds on and is dragged all over creation by the other youngster yanking the other end. When it rips, they repeat the operation with increasingly smaller scraps.
I don't like to buy cheap-o stuffed child or dog toys because of the plastic bits and greater amount of fluff flying around, so average cost per toy is $10-15.

It's not a bad idea but you have to consider that they already sell $1 dog toys at the dollar store. Now this would be a store where you have eliminated all the other $1 knick knacks that people like to buy at the dollar store and sell only dog toys instead. You may want to consider expanding your repertoire of items to really make it worth the trip. I dont see myself getting dressed and driving to the $1 dog toy store just to get my dog a toy when I can pick it up at the regular dollar store along with a few other household items that I need. Good luck with your idea!

A $1 toy is a nice idea but what would be even better is to make an indestructable toy. My dog decimates his stuffed toys in minutes as well so I end up just not buying them for him.

Little cheap toys like that would be destroyed within minutes. I have a Dal that can destroy a tennis ball in no time. & the other two do not play with toys.
Your 1 dollar toys may be fine for small dogs but they wouldn't last here.

I enjoy buying my puppy lots of cheap toys (not one dollar, usually 2 - 3) of a large variety. Not because he chews them up so fast, but because I have a few family members in my house that like to mess with his toys (I don't know, don't ask), and they often get lost around the house. I usually find them after a while, but the dog has to have something to play with.
Fortunately, though he has the ability, he does not like completely desecrating stuffed toys, but very much enjoys desecrating rope toys!
So yeah, I would be interested in your toys.

$1 may be too little. Your line seem be inexpensive, not 'cheap'. But at $1 or $3, if the toys are safe, clever and appealing, yes we would buy a number of them--including for birthdays and Christmas.
We are always looking for something interesting. Dogs and cats deserve a little variety for all they give to us in return.
