Online storage is where you can store your files in the internet. It can also be called as File hosting.
You need it if you don't have space on your hard drive or you want to upload something on the internet.
More info can be found on the source section.
Hope it helps.

It's a company that charges a monthly or yearly fee to back up your data online. You don't need it. For one thing you have to have internet access for it to work. As above said just buy an external hard drive and use that. They have really came down in price the last year or so. I recently bought a 500 GB for $60. I'm glad I did. Got a nasty virus a couple of weeks ago and had to reformat. Had all of my music, pics, docs etc. backed up.

Online storage is the local hard drives in your machine that do not lose any information you have when the machine is turned off. Run disk cleanup (Start->programs->accessories->system tools->disk cleanup) which will remove any uneeded items from your machine (it will take some time to do this though).
Offline storage is when you burn things from the hard disk to a cd/dvd for backup purposes.

it is a place for keeping your data backed up, not for storing it. Just buy a second hard drive for more local room, and clean out the crap yo udont need. Esp your temp files.
