Did Russia really ban the Jehovah's Witnesses recently?

No just part of their subversive literature.

The Watch Tower advocates civil disobedience to all governments and pronounces that all governments and religions other than them are under satan and the demons.

The Russian ban is a slap on the hand compared to what the Russians could do which is let each community deal with the unwanted garbage of the American publishing firm the Watch tower Bible and Tract Society in their own manner.

This is actually protecting the Watch Tower followers from the wrath of the communities they have deeply offended. The Russians could look the other way as the JWs are beaten, jailed, hung, and so forth.

The ban is minor compared to what happened in America mid 20th century when the JWs ran sound truck/cars and picketed churches in certain communities and the people beat them, tared and feathered them, and jailed them. Watch Tower salesmen were ran out of towns and in a couple of instances unclothed.

Quite a few communities banned the WT from preaching and door to door work. This led to court room confrontations that the Watch Tower touts as winning "free speech".

In fact it led to communities to making laws and ordinances that stopped picketing except by unions and other labor groups with disputes and the need to file applications to mass protest by date and time which severely limited spontaneous attention being called to grievous error by those that would further enslave or stomp on the rights of citizens.

The communities also made noise ordinances and limited signage.

Communities that were open to soap and brush and vacuum salesmen practicing legitimately were closed to all cold calling.

The Watch Tower has been an evil part of curtailing American civil liberties and freedom of speech, and practice of legitimate business.

The Watch Tower is not about the distribution of "free" literature as much to individual persons as soliciting people to bible studies to recruit them into their insidious cult.

As the Russians strive to bring an orderly and progressive society which includes freedom of speech and religion the Watch Tower sends in agents to sabotage the work done to grant the people a full and heard voice with full cooperation by preaching hate and condemnation fostering individual prejudices that the Russians have worked hard to overcome in their widespread and diverse society.
