Read the political section of YA for a while following up to do your own research so that you can seperate the truth from the made up stories. This will help you formulate opinions that are based at least somewhat on truth.
Then I would suggest getting a free publication from Hillsdale College called, Imprimus, ( you can google Hillsdale College to find the website and ask for it online.) This is a short monthly journal that reprints old speaches from great conservative political minds.
You are probably thinking I should recomend getting some exposure to Liberal minds as well but that is a given as long as you are not living in a cave like a hermit. America is permeated with Liberal thinking on all but one major network.
You have to be deliberate about getting exposure to Conservative ideas, because they are much less available than the liberal ideas.
After atleast 6 months to a year of this you should be able to formulate a political idealology of your own and then decide what office you would like to run for to put it into practice.

You can't get involved in politics by looking at a website.
You can do it by getting involved with an election campaign in your election district. Then it's just a matter of networking. You should figure out who has the most influence in local politics, and then go to work for them.

Everyone should have the right to politics. Just leave the religion at home with them. A lot of the world's problem was caused my religious fanatics who can't distinguish between religion and the nation. Look at the crusades. It was a big failure, ultimately leading to distrust and hatred between the Western Civilization and the fanatical muslims. It is a cause of the 9/11 attack and the Afganstine war

I think Jeff has the right idea, interning in some aspect according to your talents. Close to election, alot of local offices need volunteers. As far as websites, I don't know your political leanings, but a simple web search can help you there. Good Luck.

If you are in college, get involved in active chapters dedicated to making their positions known. Depending on the club's connections you might do some intern work for a public official.

it's best to start on the local level. by calling your local party's committee. from there you should be able to find your local town committee and become a committee person. you learn a lot being a committee person.
