What dental treatment is covered by NHS?
Bit long winded, sorry...My dentist who I am sorry to say I can hardly understand suddenly said out of the blue that I have gum disease and gave me two options, visit a specialist that will be very expensive or I think, coincidentally, see her partner for treatment. While she was out of the room I asked the nurse for more info and she said what the dentist was recommending was expensive and there were no guarantees that the treatment would work either.
Whilst reading the NHS form they gave me for the filling cover or whatever it is she say's I need now, I noticed it say's all treatment I need, including periodontal work, should be on the NHS, and it also states maximum fee of £190 odd. I need to know if that is true, because I'm back this week for the prep work on the filling and I know she will pressure me again.
Thanks for reading this...

Look if you cannot understand what your Dentist is saying to you and you need the nurse to translate what has been said as hard as it might be to find another NHS dentist I would suggest you change practises.
Fillings do not need a prep appointment. They should be done in one ten or twenty minute appointment.
You do not have to go for you next appointment and can move on and you should never be put in the position of feeling uncomfortable about pressure and it is unprofessional for a NHS dentist to do it.
If you have loads of treatment the maximum you can have to pay for the whole lot on the NHS is a set amount.
Talk your concerns over with your local health authority, there should be a dental helpline in the phone book and it is this number that will also help you find a new practise or Dentist.

Once you are 19 you have to pay NHS dental fees. Some people are exempt, students are not. You'll have to pay for prescriptions too.

Judging by your pound symbol, I'm guessing you DON'T live in the U.S. therefor Ameriplan wouldn't be available to you nor would your dentist take it. So I guess I really don't know. I didn't notice the symbol until I loaded the answer page. :( sorry.
