If there any way to challenge a parking ticket if the cost is extreme?

Due to living next door to a synagogue and it being Hannukah, I came home last night to find no spaces for 3 blocks. So, I parked in a private parking lot across from my house. I know this wasnt right, but there were spaces and I wasnt walking a mile in the freezing weather.

I got up this morning to move it, to find out Id already been ticketed. Now I accept the ticket, I shouldnt have parked there, but the fine is $250.00!!!

My question is, is there any way to challenge this on the grounds of how ridiculous the fine is compared to the crime here?

I agree with "Paper P" and the fine is excessive. It's sounds like the parking lot is a private lot!

You don't have a "defense" for illegal parking, however, I believe you have mitigating circumstances that the court would be smart by reducing the fine to a reasonable amount.

Go to court and explain to the judge just as you did here....I think you'll go home happier than had you paid the full fine!

    Best wishes.

you probably did not have the alternative for paying for one million hour and half-hour. It needless to say suggested one million hour or 2 hour. Why does not you have only paid the greater suitable .50? It additionally suggested on your receipt which you paid till sixteen:18, so the fee ticket is valid. You have been parked with out paying (in accordance to the device) from sixteen:18 - sixteen:40.

I would appeal it and tell them just that.. Show them what you earn and explain that the costs are way to excessive.. For a millionaire, it may be a drop in the hat, but for me its extrememly costly.. Tell them $50 is more appropriate for someone that earns as much as you do... If it sticks ask them for community service or 12 months to pay it...

Go to court and plead "Guilty with an explanation". Tell them exactly what you said here. They should cut you a break.
