Quick and Easy Powdered Sugar Icing

    2 cups powdered sugar (sifted)

    1/2 teaspoon vanilla

    2 tablespoons milk

Mix the powdered sugar with the vanilla and milk. Then add more milk a bit at a time until it is thin enough to drizzle over a cake. Once you've iced your cake, it's best to let it stand for one or two hours.

To make chocolate icing, add two tablespoons cocoa powder when you mix the powdered sugar and follow the rest of the recipe above.

    Thick Vanilla Frosting

    1 cup shortening

    2 teaspoons vanilla

    4 cups powdered sugar (sifted)

    4 tablespoons milk

Beat together shortening and vanilla for 30 seconds medium speed with an electric mixer. Add 2 cups of powdered sugar a bit at a time while beating. Then add 2 tablespoons milk. Slowly add in the rest of the powdered sugar and the rest of the milk until you get the right thickness for your frosting.

Hi confectioners sugar and boiled water allowed to cool a little. It can be flavoured with vanilla extract mint or whatever takes your fancy. It can also be coloured with food colouring. For a 'thin' icing just put the sugar and any flavours you may use in a bowl, and add a little hot water and mix with a wooden spoon until the icing will coat the back of the spoon. This for people who may not know is when you run your finger down the back of the spoon and it leaves a trail that does not fill itself in straight away. I hope this helps, all the best. Rab

You can do a cream cheese icing. That is one 8oz pack of cheese with about a cup of powdered sugar, and 1 tsp of vanilla.

half a cup of water for every 2 cups of icing sugar. Then just mix it together well and add food colouring if you want colour.
