This is a incredible war story- what do you think about this?
The truce began on Christmas Eve, 24 December 1914, when German troops began decorating the area around their trenches in the region of Ypres, Belgium, for Christmas. They began by placing candles on trees, then continued the celebration by singing Christmas carols, most notably Stille Nacht (Silent Night). The British troops in the trenches across from them responded by singing English carols.
The two sides continued by shouting Christmas greetings to each other. Soon thereafter, there were calls for visits across the "No Man's Land" where small gifts were exchanged — whisky, jam, cigars, chocolate, and the like. The soldiers exchanged gifts, sometimes addresses, and drank together. The artillery in the region fell silent that night. The truce also allowed a breathing spell where recently-fallen soldiers could be brought back behind their lines by burial parties. Proper burials took place as soldiers from both sides mourned the dead together and paid their respects.
The truce spread to other areas of the lines, and there are many stories of football matches between the opposing forces.
In many sectors, the truce lasted through Christmas night, but in some areas, it continued until New Year's Day.

The truce occurred in spite of opposition at higher levels of the military. Earlier in the autumn, Pope Benedict XV had begged for an official truce between the warring governments, "that the guns may fall silent at least upon the night the angels sang." It was considered possible by the Germans but angrily denounced by the British who blithely ignored any further peace overtures made by Benedict - although the pope's ten conditions for a lasting peace were largely subsumed by Woodrow Wilson in his "14 Points".

Stories like this can only happen where countries with a basic acceptance of Jesus the Christ are at war.
Contrarily, Muslim countries choose the most holy time of their enemy to launch an attack since they know it will desecrate the holy celebration as well as potentially catch their enemy off guard. But if one do the same to Them, well, it's a foul. Double standard jackasses.
Governments aren't a proper representation of the people they govern. The Germans, French, British and American soldiers of WWI and WWII were all raised with an awareness that Jesus was the Christ of the creator God and would recognize the birth celebration with a cease-fire as well as extend civil courtesy to prisoners who openly professed that belief.
Not so with Communist or Muslim countries. They will just kill the captured enemy after much torture and exploitation - just for fun. They'll even kill fellow Muslims because they aren't the "right kind" of Muslim.
Unfortunately, the USA is getting further and further away from that basic acceptance of Jesus as the Christ of the creator God and now openly supports torture of prisoners, whereas we NEVER did during WWI and WWII. War will make a man do insane things, but the basic acceptance of Jesus as the Christ of Jehovah will make him stop when confronted with it.
Not true of today's soldier.

serious guy.. you are dumb.
i read this story where a sniper was harrasing like 10 men in iraq and finally killed one of them. soon after the prayer time came ( where they pray 5 times a day) and the men knew this was there time to get the body to a safe place, while they did that the insurgent sniper did not fire even though the praying time was over 10min ago.. once they got the body in a safe place, he started shooting again..
we are all human, no matter what side we are from, and no matter how bad you might be, you still have feelings.

Great f***** answer bud.
During those times, people were more dedicated to Christianity. These were the times when people were saying "Merry Christmas" instead of "Happy Holidays, get my drift? It's unfortunate that we have drifted so far apart from the religion that played a major role in structuring America.. I can only hope and pray that most of our guys on the front lines still keep prayers in tact while out on patrol. Thanks for the story bud.

That story's one of the few things that give me the warm fuzzies. It sounds like it was one hell of a scene,
I heard that they went back to fighting the very next day - such is the life of an elisted man. A rare glimpse for the liberals who call us heartless murderers.
Thanks for reminding me of this, it's my favorite Christmas story :D
