Any suggestions on what type of clothes to bring on a Caribbean cruise?

I'm taking a cruise on Dec 20th and I'm stumped at what type of clothes to take along to wear. I know I have to have 2-3 nice dresses for the Captains dinners, but what do I bring for everyday use??

I've just returned from a Caribbean cruise. During the days at sea most everyone wears bathing suits or shorts and tops. In port, they wear shorts, since it's quite hot.

In the evening they have days called casual, and days called smart casual. People wear just about anything. You can not wear jeans, shorts, sneaks or thongs. A nice pair of slacks and a top are fine for casual. A pants outfit, or simple dress, or just a nice pair of pants and top are fine for smart casual. There are always people who get dressed up every night, and those who come very casual.

Also, most ships have an alternative place to eat. My ship had a buffet. We had 3 formal nights. I chose to get dressed up one night, and not get dressed the other 2. I went to the buffet, and there were lots of people there. The food was very good too.

So, don't worry about clothes. Take what you like, and enjoy yourself.

Oh, and one thing more. Make sure you take a warm sweater for air conditioning, and cool nights.

It depends where you are going, and which ship you are on; but generally, casual clothing is the dress code on the islands. Holland America tends to be more dressy, Princess, Carnival, RCCL, and Norwegian tend to be more casual. Dinner on most ships is casual, but dressy. Slacks and a collared shirt are usually requested. On a 7 day cruise, there are two formal dinners, while shorter cruises usually just have one.

The web site for the cruise line should give you most of the specifics.

    Enjoy.

Shorts, tshirts, bathing suites and sun dresses, flip flops, sandals and even tennis shoes for comfort and definitely water shoes for outdoor activities. Wear light weight material clothing. Also take a hat and some sun screen. Wear anything you would wear during the summer.

It's normally hot on the islands you visit so you want to dress as casually as possible

Usually shorts, t-shirts, tanks, swimsuits, sandals, and sunglasses. At least that's what I see most people here wear to the beach(Jamaica) and seeing as you'll probably be spending most of your time in the pool I think it applies.
