where can i find this freeware chess program?
the program is very hard to beat. It allows you to edit the board.
I am thinking of one program but i can't remember the name. however any program that plays on a super hard level, lets you edit the board, and is free will do

you need an interface. Winboard comes with gnuchess.
I've been told those programs are about 1600 (USCF). Is that strong enough.

Der Bringer is a nice program with a nice interface.
You can download it here:

It allows you to edit the board and set up positions and problems.
Has a good number of levels to play
You can load and save games in .pgn format
And it has lots of options for the color of the squares for best visibility
And excellent and free program
