Is there any way to hookup home theater speakers to a TV, without a receiver?

I'm looking for a way to hookup this Blu-ray/VHS player:

http://www.amazon.com/exec/obidos/tg/detail/-/B001...

to this TV:

http://www.tigerdirect.com/applications/SearchTool...

using external 5.1 speakers.

So the part I need is 5.1 non-bare wire speakers (~$200) that can hookup to this TV or DVD player, or a method/adapter to hookup bare wire speakers to this TV or DVD player. I'm trying to do this without a receiver mainly for space reasons. I need the DVD and TV audio to both be played through the external speakers.

Thanks for any help with this

    This is NOT POSSIBLE. Why? Because you need to have a surround sound decoder for 5.1 sound. Your Blu-ray/VHS player does not have a decoder. Your television may have one but it doesn't have direct 5.1 speaker outputs so even if it did you couldn't use it to drive speakers directly. I understand space concerns - everybody has them, but you NEED a surround sound decoder and surround sound receivers have them built in. I see no way around this. You need to buy a 5.1 surround sound receiver/amp - this will drive your 5.1 speakers.

    Only if the player has a built in amp, and most do not.
