Country Songs? Pretty easy to answer if you know the music.?
Okay now I need songs that represent these emotions/actions in the lyrics. Note that they must all be appropriate, with the only swear maybe being damn, ***, or bastard that can at most only be said once or twice. No love songs, I'll explain why at the end.
Song 1: Something kind of upbeat. It should represent arrogancey. So like cocky lyrics. Preferably like two guys getting in a fight, in kind of I'll kick your *** kind of thing. I'm sure there's a country song with lyrics like this.
Song 2: Something more to a slower beat. Mostly about how life isn't fair but there's still a future. Not a love song. Just like, you get knocked down but you have to get back up.
Song 3: So like something bad has happened. There's no undoing it. Something talking about deep trouble. Not ha ha trouble but serious trouble. Again not a love song.
Okay there's three songs. Not too bad. If anyone knows country I'm sure they could match a song to it. I sure don't.
Explanation? I'm doing a soundtrack for my Of Mice and Men project. Each song represents a chapter. So yes I'm presenting it in school (that's why it must be mostly appropriate), and no love songs because there is really no love romance thing going on. There is really no romance in the book other than Curley's wife teasing guys and them being married. And really they don't even love each other.a
Thank you. :D I really don't listen to country so that's why I'm asking if someone can help me.

1. As Good As I Once Was by Toby Kieth
2. Wrinkles by Diamond Rio
3. The Dance by Garth brooks, most misinterpret this as a love song but if you really listen youll discover its actually about the end of some goal or cause that remains incomplete but saying that the fight was worth it anyways.

1. I agree with Dan R. that "You Don't Mess Around With Jim" is probably a good song, though I prefer the Jim Croce version, available on his Greatest Hits Album. He's considered part of the folk genre, so he's kind of country.
2. I think Emerson Drive's "Moments" might work for this one, from their album Countrified.
3. Rascal Flatt's "Why" from the Unstoppable album might work here, though there are parts of it that might not fit.
Good luck, hope at least some of it helps. :)

Song 1:Fight by Ben Kweller
He is a trucker
Burning the highway
His heart is strong as stone
Counting them yard lines
Passing the hard time
Riding that black top home
CHORUS:
You gotta fight fight fight fight all the way
You gotta fight fight fight all the way
You gotta set your sight on the Lord in your life
You gotta fight till your dying day
She is an intern
Fighting the love burn
Rolling out tears like a wave
That angel's boy friend
Left her with nothing
But she'll never be his slave
CHORUS:
You gotta fight fight fight fight all the way
You gotta fight fight fight all the way
You gotta set your sight on the Lord in your life
You gotta fight till your dying day
I'm like my grandma
Short but I stand tall
Playing every single card thats dealt to me
Well you know some days are aces
And some days are faces
Well some days are 2's and 3's
CHORUS:
You gotta fight fight fight fight all the way
You gotta fight fight fight all the way
You gotta set your sight on the Lord in your life
You gotta fight till your dying day
Song 2:Fight like a Girl by Bombshel
Little girl alone on the playground
Tired of gettin' teased and gettin' pushed around
Wishin' she was invisible
To them
She ran home cryin'
"Why do they hate me?"
And Mama wiped the tears and said
"Baby, you're brave and you're beautiful.
So, hold your head high.
Don't ever let 'em define
The light in your eyes.
Love yourself, give them Hell.
You can take on this world.
You just stand and be strong
And then fight
Like a girl."
At 31 she was wheelin' and dealin'
Kept on hittin' that same glass ceilin'
She was never gonna one of the boys, no
She coulda gave up on her ambition
And spent the rest of her life just wishin'
Instead she listened to her mama's voice sayin'
"Hold your head high.
Don't ever let 'em define
The light in your eyes.
Love yourself, give them Hell.
You can take on this world.
You just stand and be strong
And then fight
Like a girl."
Oh, with style and grace
Kick *** and take names
Ten years of climbin' that ladder
Oh, but money and power don't matter
When the doctor said "the cancer spread"
She holds on tight to her husband and babies
And says "this is just another test God gave me.
And I know just how to handle this"
I'll hold my head high
I'll never let this define
The light in my eyes
Love myself, give it Hell
I'll take on this world
If I stand and be strong
No, I'll never give up
I will conquer with love
And I'll fight like
Like a girl
Ooh
Song 3:Sounds like Life to Me by Daryl Worley
( Darryl Worley, Wynn Varble, Phil O’Donnell )
Got a call last night from an old friend’s wife
Said I hate to bother you
Johnny Ray fell off the wagon
He’s been gone all afternoon
I know my buddy so I drove to Skully’s
And found him at the bar
I say hey man, what’s going on
He said I don’t know where to start
Sarah’s old car’s about to fall apart
And the washer quit last week
We had to put momma in the nursing home
And the baby’s cutting teeth
I didn’t get much work this week
And I got bills to pay
I said I know this ain’t what you wanna hear
But it’s what I’m gonna say
(Chorus)
Sounds like life to me it ain’t no fantasy
It’s just a common case of everyday reality
Man I know it’s tough but you gotta suck it up
To hear you talk you’re caught up in some tragedy
It sounds like life to me
Well his face turned red and he shook his head
He said you don’t understand
Three kids and a wife depend on me
And I’m just one man
To top it off I just found out
That Sarah’s 2 months late
I said hey bartender set us up a round
We need to celebrate
(Chorus)
Sounds like life to me plain old destiny
Yeah the only thing for certain is uncertainty
You gotta hold on tight just enjoy the ride
Get used to all this unpredictability
Sounds like life
Man I know its tough but you gotta suck it up
To hear you talk you’re caught up in some tragedy
Sounds like life to me
Sounds like life
Goodluck with ur project :)

Winner - Bobby Bare
The hulk of a man with a beer in his hand he looked like a drunk old fool
And I knew if I hit him right why I could knock him off of that stool
But everybody they said watch out hey that's the Tiger Man McCool
He's had the whole lotta fights and he's always come out winner yeah he's a winner
But I had myself about five too many and I walked up tall and proud
I faced his back and I faced the fact that he had never stooped or bowed
I said Tiger Man you're a pussycat and a hush fell on the crowd
I said let's you and me go outside and see who's the winner
Well he gripped the bar with one big hairy hand then he braced against the wall
He slowly looked up from his beer my God that man was tall
He said boy I see you're a scrapper so just before you fall
I'm gonna tell you just a little bout what it means to be a winner
He said now you see these bright white smilin' teeth you know they ain't my own
Mine rolled away like Chicklets down the street in San Antone
But I left that person cursin' nursin' seven broken bones
And he only broke ah three of mine that makes me the winner
He said now behind this grin I got a steel pin that holds my jaw in place
A trophy of my most successful motorcycle race
And each morning when I wake and touch this scar across my face
It reminds me of all I got by bein' a winner
Now this broken back was the dyin' act of a handsome Harry Clay
That sticky Cincinnati night I stole his wife away
But that woman she gets uglier and she gets meaner every day
But I got her boy that's what makes me a winner
He said you gotta speak loud when you challenge me son cause it's hard for me to hear
With this twisted neck and these migraine pains and this big ole cauliflower ear
And if it wadn't for this glass eye of mine why I'd shed a happy tear
To think of all that you gonna get by bein' a winner
I got arthritic elbows boy I got dislocated knees
From pickin' fights with thunderstorms and chargin' into trees
And my nose been broke so often I might lose if I sneeze
And son you say you still wanna be a winner
Now you remind me a lotta my younger days with your knuckles a clenchin' white
But boy I'm gonna sit right here and sip this beer all night
And if there's somethin' that you gotta gain to prove by winnin' some silly fight
Well okay I quit I lose you're the winner
So I stumbled from that barroom not so tall and not so proud
And behind me I still hear the hoots of laughter of the crowd
But my eyes still see and my nose still works and my teeth're still in my mouth
And you know I guess that makes me the winner
The Fighting Side of Me - Merle Haggard
I hear people talkin' bad,
About the way we have to live here in this country,
Harpin' on the wars we fight,
An' gripin' 'bout the way things oughta be.
An' I don't mind 'em switchin' sides,
An' standin' up for things they believe in.
When they're runnin' down my country, man,
They're walkin' on the fightin' side of me.
Yeah, walkin' on the fightin' side of me.
Runnin' down the way of life,
Our fightin' men have fought and died to keep.
If you don't love it, leave it:
Let this song I'm singin' be a warnin'.
If you're runnin' down my country, man,
You're walkin' on the fightin' side of me.
I read about some squirrely guy,
Who claims, he just don't believe in fightin'.
An' I wonder just how long,
The rest of us can count on bein' free.
They love our milk an' honey,
But they preach about some other way of livin'.
When they're runnin' down my country, hoss,
They're walkin' on the fightin' side of me.

Song of the South - Alabama
Song, song of the south
Sweet potato pie and I shut my mouth
Gone, gone with the wind
There ain't nobody looking back again
Cotton on the roadside, cotton in the ditch
We all picked the cotton but we never got rich
Daddy was a veteran, a southern democrat
They oughta get a rich man to vote like that
Sing it...
Song, song of the south
Sweet potato pie and I shut my mouth
Gone, gone with the wind
There ain't nobody looking back again
Well somebody told us Wall Street fell
But we were so poor that we couldn't tell
Cotton was short and the weeds were tall
But Mr. Roosevelt's a gonna save us all
Well momma got sick and daddy got down
The county got the farm and they moved to town
Pappa got a job with the TVA
He bought a washing machine and then a Chevrole
